Key Stage 1...
Your child enters Key Stage 1 when they enter year 1 and remains in it until the end of Year 2.
During the first term in Year 1, children continue aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and a learning through play approach, which includes use of an outdoor learning area. The children in both years 1 and 2 continue their progression through the Read Write Inc. phonic programme until they become independent readers. Pupils take part in daily maths lessons and develop their understanding of the world through a broad and balanced approach to the National Curriculum, often through cross curricular topics.
